Dare County 4-H Horse Bowl Team Advances to State After Strong District Debut

Dare County 4-H marked a significant milestone by fielding its first-ever Horse Bowl team at the Northeast District 4-H Horse Bowl Tournament on February 14, 2026. The mixed division team, consisting of three junior members—Savannah Davis, James Denson, Grace Sorey—and one senior member, Miley Dough, demonstrated strong knowledge in equine science, management, nutrition, anatomy, and horse care. Impressively, every team member placed in the Top 10 individually, with Miley Dough earning 3rd place overall. Additionally, two young Cloverbud participants, ages 5-7, gained valuable experience competing at the district level, highlighting the program’s growth across all age groups.

Thanks to their strong performance, Dare County 4-H will advance to the state 4-H Horse Bowl Contest on March 14 at North Carolina State University. Their success reflects months of dedicated preparation, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship, embodying the 4-H motto, “To Make the Best Better.” The community eagerly anticipates supporting the team as they represent Dare County at the state competition.
