Cross-Country Day Highlights at the 2026 Defender Kentucky Three-Day Event

The Defender Kentucky Three-Day Event’s cross-country day is the busiest at the Kentucky Horse Park, featuring two main divisions: the CCI4-S starting at 9:30 a.m. EST with 44 pairs, and the CCI5-L beginning at 1:30 p.m. EST with 29 pairs. The CCI4*-S course, designed by di Grazia, spans 3,770 meters with 23 obstacles and an optimum time of 6 minutes 37 seconds, while the five-star course covers 6,312 meters with 28 obstacles and an optimum time of 11 minutes 5 seconds, both requiring a pace of 570 meters per minute. Notable riders include Tamie Smith and Jan Byyny in the four-star, and Caroline Pamukcu in the five-star division.

Spectators are encouraged to arrive early for prime viewing and can follow the event via livestreams, live scores, and social media updates from USEA.
