Badger Rescued After Becoming Entangled in Football Goal Netting in Aberdeenshire

A badger in Aberdeenshire was rescued after becoming entangled in goal netting at Monquhitter School in Cuminestown. Despite possibly being trapped over the weekend, the animal remained “very feisty” and was safely freed by New Arc Wildlife Rescue before being taken to a vet, where it is now recovering well.

Wildlife charities warn that unattended sports netting poses serious risks to animals and advise removing nets when not in use. They emphasize that trapped animals are likely to be frightened and defensive, so only trained rescuers with proper equipment should attempt a rescue. The Scottish SPCA urges anyone finding injured badgers to contact their hotline and wait for professional help.
