Always My Folks Claims First Win at 17th Start Despite Veterinary Concerns

Always My Folks secured his first career win at his 17th start by taking the lead near the 200m mark, overcoming previous struggles at longer distances by dropping back to 1,000m. Macanese Master, the favorite, led early but finished second, maintaining consistent form with three consecutive runner-up finishes since a February win. Spicy Spangle overcame a slow start and pre-race issues to finish third, while Taihang Scenery and Country Dancer showed strong late efforts, with the latter possibly better suited to longer distances.

The race saw several incidents: Fortune Warrior raced wide without cover, Lucky Generations was steadied to avoid interference and showed limited early pace, and Spicy Spangle had a fair jump. Notably, Always My Folks underwent an endoscopic exam post-race revealing significant blood in the trachea, requiring official veterinary clearance before racing again. Macanese Master and Always My Folks were both sent for sampling, and other horses experienced various positioning challenges during the race.
