22-Year-Old Fjord Mare Crowned 2024 SSADL In-Hand Supreme Champion at London International Horse Show

Natalie Jefferies led her Fjord mare, Aplhaugs Lilja, to win the 2024 SSADL in-hand supreme champion title at the London International Horse Show. Lilja, who came from Norway and has competed in various disciplines, is known for her versatility and talent. This win marked the first time a Fjord horse has won at the London International Horse Show.

Natalie, who works as a senior carer and has three children, has owned Lilja for five years. Lilja has competed in endurance, western, carriage driving, dressage, jumping, and even side-saddle. She is described as a laid-back horse who is currently teaching Natalie’s children to ride and loves to jump and show.

In reserve was 16-year-old Exmoor stallion Blackthorn Poteen, handled by Kestra French. This was Poteen’s second appearance at the London International Horse Show. Natalie expressed her surprise and joy at winning the championship, as she had not expected to win at all and was emotional when receiving the sash.
