Young Riders Shine at Kilnsey Pony Club Summer Competition and Celebration

The Kilnsey Trekking and Riding Centre recently hosted a lively Pony Club event organized by Michelle Parker Vaughan, bringing together 34 young riders aged 6 to 17 for a day of friendly competition and celebration. The event featured a variety of classes from beginner to novice levels, including show jumping and the popular “handy pony” competition, judged by experienced equestrian supporters. Despite afternoon rain causing some postponements, the day was filled with enthusiasm, supported by a busy food stall that raised funds for the Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association.

Throughout the summer, Michelle and her team ran five weeks of Pony Club camps, offering lessons, badge training, and British Horse Society Road Safety courses for all abilities. The Centre, managed by Jane Pighills, continues to foster a strong community spirit, providing lessons, scenic treks, and holiday riding weeks, along with initiatives like Changing Lives Through Horses. With the festive season approaching, bookings are open for Christmas Pony Rides featuring seasonal treats and a visit from Santa, highlighting the Centre’s ongoing commitment to nurturing a lifelong love of horses among local families.
