Several skeletal horses near Basingstoke were left unfed and starved to the brink of death until Georgia Lowe intervened to rescue them. The three ex-racehorses were in extremely poor condition, with body scores between 0.2 and 1 (ideal is 5), indicating severe emaciation. Despite reaching out to animal welfare organizations for financial support, Georgia received no assistance and has personally spent over £1,000 on veterinary care. She drove over 300 miles to save the horses, uncertain if they would survive the journey.
With winter approaching, Georgia emphasizes the difficulty of maintaining the horses’ health and is appealing for donations of feed, blankets, and bedding to aid their recovery. The horses are on a slow path to recovery but require ongoing support to survive the harsh months ahead. Donations can be made via a GoFundMe page or dropped off at Eira’s Equestrian Extras shop in Kingsclere.
