Karen Johannsen, a 66-year-old former greenhouse and gardening center owner from Wisconsin, was tragically murdered during a horseback riding tour on a beach in Dickenson Bay, Antigua, on December 19, 2025. She was struck on the back of the head with a blunt object, rushed to a local hospital, and then airlifted to Madison, Wisconsin, where she died a week later. Police have a male suspect in custody but have not released his identity.

Johannsen was well-known in Madison for running Johannsen’s Greenhouse with her family and for her appearances as the “Green Gardener” on local TV, sharing gardening tips. Though it’s unclear if she had permanently moved to Antigua, she appeared to enjoy her time there. Her family, friends, and community mourn her loss as authorities continue their investigation.
