Western Weekend, a key part of the Tyler County Dogwood Festival since 1968, celebrates the region’s western heritage with a variety of events including the iconic Western Day Parade, rodeo, and vendor fairs. The parade, featuring over 1,500 horses and notable drill teams, will take place on March 29 at 2 p.m. in downtown Woodville, alongside vendors offering food and crafts. The rodeo, sponsored by the Woodville Lions Club and produced by Bubba Miller’s Branded for Christ rodeo Company, is a CPRA-sanctioned event held on March 28 and 29, featuring competitions like bull riding, barrel racing, and calf roping, with special events for children such as calf and goat scrambles and the popular Mutton Bustin’ sheep-riding contest.
Tickets for the rodeo are available for pre-sale at local businesses and from Lions Club members, with prices increasing at the gate. Western Weekend continues to be a beloved tradition that brings excitement and community spirit to Woodville, offering fun for all ages.
