Waxwing Perlina (Lena), an eight-year-old Welsh Section B mare, delivered a stunning performance to win the Equine Giveaways BSPS Heritage mountain & moorland supreme ridden championship at the Agria Royal International Horse Show. Ridden by 15-year-old Samantha Taylor and produced by Chrissy Knipe and Rebecca Abba, Lena impressed judges with her balance, presence, and sparkle, capturing both the Section A & B final and the overall supreme title. Bred by Tom Best and David Blair, Lena has thrived under her producers’ care, showcasing a joyful and charismatic presence in the ring that has made her a true favorite, especially with younger riders.
Reserve champion was the striking Welsh Section D stallion Erwfforch Carwyn, a nine-year-old ridden by Kelly Morris, who praised his willingness and composure despite limited show experience. Other notable competitors included winners from the Dartmoor, Exmoors, Shetlands, New Forest, Connemara, Fells, Dales, and Highlands breeds, highlighting the diversity and quality of mountain and moorland ponies at the event. The show also featured other championship wins across various categories, with Horse & Hound providing ongoing coverage and analysis of the major 2025 equestrian events.
