Wakefield Stud Gears Up for Busy 2025 Breeding Season with New Facilities and Redbank Estate Launch

Wakefield Stud is gearing up for a busy 2025 breeding season following its acquisition in 2024 by the owners of Middlebrook Valley Lodge. Since the purchase, significant improvements have been made to the farm’s infrastructure, including new Duncan Horse Rail fencing, upgraded plumbing and drinkers in stables and yards, and refurbishment of reproductive vet areas. Although the number of dry mares is expected to be slightly lower this season due to broader industry trends, the stud has expanded its facilities, notably opening a new spelling facility with 18 individual yards and multiple paddocks, now available to outside clients and trainers.

In addition to equine facilities, Wakefield Stud has enhanced its hospitality offerings with the Redbank Estate, a renovated homestead accommodating up to 16 guests, ideal for events like the Scone Cup and stallion parade weekends. The estate has received positive feedback since its soft launch last year and is now open for public bookings, with plans underway to appoint a dedicated manager to further develop the property’s potential. Interested parties can contact the stud for mare bookings or spelling services and book stays at Redbank Estate through the provided contact details and website.
