A 900-pound pony was rescued after falling into a swimming pool in Prince William County, Virginia, despite the pool being covered with a canvas and surrounded by brick pillars and a five-foot iron gate. The owner discovered the horse submerged in about four feet of water and called 9-1-1 for help.
Firefighters enlisted the assistance of the Little Fork Volunteer Fire and Rescue, a team trained in large animal rescues. Using straps and a ramp, they successfully lifted the pony out of the pool. Veterinarians later confirmed the horse showed no signs of injury or distress.
