The local community in Tipperary is expressing shock and anger after a horse named Woody was found collapsed and abandoned on the side of the road. Woody, who had been used for sulky racing until his body gave out, was discovered dehydrated, emaciated, and left to die alone. The My Lovely Horse rescue charity responded to a call from An Garda Siochana and provided intensive veterinary care and rehabilitation, leading to Woody’s remarkable recovery.
Now thriving in a loving home and even winning rosettes with his new owner Orianna, Woody’s story highlights the ongoing issue of animal abandonment and abuse in Ireland. The rescue charity emphasized that their work depends on public donations, which fund vet bills and rehabilitation efforts, urging people to support their mission to save more animals like Woody.
