Tiny Shetland Pony Pickle Makes Miraculous Recovery at Penny Farm Rescue

Pickle, a 9-month-old Shetland pony from central England, was rescued in critical condition suffering from multiple diseases including strangles, equine flu, and salmonella. So weak he could barely stand or breathe, Pickle was given immediate and intensive care by the World Horse Welfare team and later nursed back to health at Penny Farm Rescue and Rehoming Center. Despite his tiny size—only 28 inches tall and 114 pounds—Pickle made a remarkable recovery, brightening up and quickly winning the hearts of visitors and staff alike.

Now thriving and playful, Pickle enjoys the company of his stablemate Cheddar and is preparing for eventual adoption once his rehabilitation is complete. His story is a heartwarming example of dedicated animal rescue efforts, showcasing how even the most fragile animals can recover and find happiness with proper care and love.
