Four-time Super Bowl champion Terry Bradshaw celebrated a notable victory off the football field when his 2-year-old filly, Taken by the Wind, won the 57th running of the Grade 3, $251,250 Pocahontas Stakes at Churchill Downs. This win earned Bradshaw and his partners 10 qualifying points toward the Kentucky Oaks and positioned the filly for a potential start in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies. Taken by the Wind, a Florida-bred daughter of Rock Your World, improved her record to 2-for-2 with a time of 1:36.50 under jockey Irad Ortiz Jr., earning $136,710.
Bradshaw, who is deeply involved in horse breeding and racing through his partnership with trainer Kenny McPeek, emphasized the importance of their relationship and McPeek’s expertise. Bradshaw prefers investing in fillies for breeding potential after their racing careers, highlighting the value of breeding quality horses. Taken by the Wind, purchased for $20,000 at the 2024 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky fall yearling sale, is co-owned by Magdalena Racing and Graham Leveston, with McPeek securing his fifth Pocahontas victory as a trainer.
