A suspect impersonating a police officer was shot and killed by law enforcement Wednesday near the Yukon and Oklahoma City line after drawing a weapon during a confrontation at the Whitehorse Apartments near Sara Road and U.S. 66. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) reported that the suspect was attempting to make traffic stops in his own vehicle. The incident began around 1:45 p.m. when law enforcement, including an off-duty deputy, stopped the suspicious vehicle. During the encounter, the suspect drew a pistol toward an Oklahoma City police officer, prompting an OHP trooper and a Yukon police officer to discharge their firearms in self-defense, killing the suspect.
No law enforcement officers were injured in the incident. Authorities believe the suspect lived at the apartment complex but have not confirmed this. A witness described seeing a large man lying on the ground while officers attempted to revive him. Further details about the suspect have not been released as the investigation continues.
