At Paris Fashion Week, Stella McCartney celebrated 25 years in fashion by unveiling a collection reflecting her life journey, featuring sustainable materials like recycled denim and innovative yeast-based knitwear. Despite financial challenges and no profits since 2017, McCartney emphasized her commitment to designing exclusively for women without using animal products. Her show included memorable moments such as dancing horses and a vest referencing her rockstar father, Paul McCartney, who attended alongside Oprah Winfrey. McCartney also revealed she would soon receive France’s prestigious Légion d’honneur.
Meanwhile, Pieter Mulier took his final bow at Alaïa before stepping into the high-pressure role of Versace’s creative director, succeeding Donatella Versace. Mulier’s tenure at Alaïa was marked by sculptural, body-hugging designs inspired by the late Azzedine Alaïa, beloved for their timeless appeal and cultural significance. Versace, recently acquired by Prada, hopes Mulier’s anti-trend approach will bring stability after a series of rapid creative changes, with his meticulous accessory designs already gaining mainstream attention. The show was attended by notable figures including Alicia Silverstone, whose character famously popularized Alaïa in the 1990s.
