Starving Horses Rescued from Neglect Face Long Road to Recovery

Five horses were found severely malnourished and living in appalling conditions across two properties, including a stallion named Thunder who was locked in a stall standing knee-deep in his own waste. Rescuers had to forcibly free him, while other horses like mares Dama and Acappella, stallion Rebel, pregnant mare Tormenta, and a neglected colt named Bryant were also rescued by law enforcement and brought to Hope Equine Rescue. Bryant was found in a separate case where another horse had died, and he had never received basic care such as vaccinations or hoof trimming.

The horses are now receiving critical medical treatment, including small frequent meals, dental and hoof care, radiographs, and surgery for Bryant once he is stable. Authorities have charged those responsible with animal cruelty and neglect. The rescue organization is seeking donations to cover the long and costly recovery process, emphasizing the urgent need for community support to help these horses heal and regain their health.
