Showdown at Global Dressage Festival: Battle for World Cup Final Qualification!

The Global dressage Festival is hosting a showdown this week in the last North American qualifier for a spot at the World Cup Final in Basel, Switzerland. Anna Marek on Fire Fly and Kevin Kohmann on Dünensee will compete in the Grand Prix Freestyle for the final starting place for North America, with both riders vying for the opportunity to participate in the global championship in April.

Adrienne Lyle on Helix and Geñay Vaughn on Gino have already secured two of the starting places for North America, leaving one spot up for grabs between Anna and Kevin. Kevin currently has 57 points from two wins and one second place, while Anna has 54 points from one win and two second places. The musical performances on Friday night will be the last chance for both riders to secure a spot in the Final.

P.J. Rizvi on her Lusitano horse is also a contender in the competition, returning after a lengthy absence due to injury. While the pair cannot earn enough points to qualify for the Final, they could potentially impact the results for Anna and Kevin in the competition. Both Anna and Kevin have previously competed at the World Cup Final in Saudi Arabia, making this potential second world championship appearance for either rider.
