Shirzat Nulum and Daughter Shakira Celebrate Horse Culture in Xinjiang Festival

Shirzat Nulum, a 30-year-old horse trainer from Zhaosu county in Northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, works at the Akhal-Teke horse breeding and show base of the Yema Group. Over the past decade, he progressed from basic tasks like grooming and feeding to becoming an accomplished trainer, dedicated to daily horse training, performances, and promoting horse culture to visitors.

Shirzat’s passion for horses has clearly influenced his family, especially his 5-year-old daughter, Shakira, who has shown remarkable talent in horse riding from a very young age. Now a beloved young rider at the horse base, Shakira has even developed her own fan following, continuing the family’s deep connection to the region’s renowned equestrian traditions.
