Calumet Farm’s She Be Smooth, undefeated in two starts including a dominant six-length victory in the Grade 2 Davona Dale, is the 7-5 favorite for the 56th running of the Grade 2 Gulfstream Park Oaks on Saturday. Trained by Hall of Famer Todd Pletcher, She Be Smooth will face her first two-turn race over 1 1/16 miles, carrying 122 pounds with Flavien Prat aboard. The Gulfstream Park Oaks is the final leg of the winter series for 3-year-old fillies at Gulfstream and awards qualifying points toward the Kentucky Oaks, with She Be Smooth currently eighth on the leaderboard.
The field of seven also includes notable contenders such as Prom Queen, second choice at 9-5, making her stakes debut for trainer Brad Cox after an eight-length maiden win; Just Singing, who will wear blinkers for the first time and looks to improve after solid graded stakes placings; My Miss Mo, coming off a second-place finish in the Davona Dale; and Haute Diva, who has shown steady progress under trainer Patrick Biancone. The race, carded as Race 9 with a 3:31 p.m. post time, is part of a stakes-filled program highlighted by the Florida Derby (G1).
