Rukmini Vasanth has received acclaim for her role as Princess Kanakavathi in Rishab Shetty’s film “Kantara Chapter 1,” a prequel set in 4th century CE coastal Karnataka during the Kadamba dynasty. To authentically portray her character, she immersed herself in the cultural context of the region and underwent training in sword fighting and horse riding. She described the role as both emotionally rich and physically demanding, praising the well-crafted character and the collaborative effort of the cast and writers.

“Kantara Chapter 1,” released on October 2 in multiple languages, delves into the origins of the folklore and ancestral conflicts introduced in the 2022 blockbuster “Kantara.” The film has performed strongly at the box office, grossing Rs 33.5 crore on a single day and accumulating around Rs 290 crore overall, with expectations to surpass Rs 300 crore domestically within a week.
