The Asociación Equiscire Centre, a horse rescue facility in Vejer de la Frontera, Cadiz, is urgently seeking funds to save Shoshana, a young abandoned filly suffering from severe leg injuries. Rescued after being left to starve in a field, Shoshana was found to have a snapped ligament and a painful degenerative joint disease called osteochondritis dissecans (OCD), requiring costly surgery and treatment estimated at around €3,200. Despite her hardships, Shoshana remains gentle and trusting, and the centre is committed to providing her with a pain-free life regardless of her future riding potential.
The centre, founded in 2021 to educate on horse welfare and now focused on rescuing neglected horses, has raised about one-third of the needed funds through a GoFundMe campaign. Owner Molly Grace emphasizes the urgent need for donations to cover Shoshana’s MRI, joint flush, antibiotics, and surgery, as the rescue cannot afford these expenses alone while caring for other animals. The campaign appeals to animal lovers to help give Shoshana a chance at recovery and dignity after surviving abandonment and starvation.
