Rescued London pony Ronnie beats the odds to survive and finds new home for Christmas

Ronnie, a young part-bred Hackney pony, was rescued in March from Cranford Park, London, in a severely emaciated state and suffering from equine flu and a weak immune system. Abandoned likely due to being too weak to work as a driving pony, Ronnie weighed only half what he should and had a body score of 0.5. The RSPCA Millbrook Animal Centre took him in and carefully nursed him back to health, with Ronnie gaining 32kg in four weeks and eventually reaching his ideal weight of 225kg after four months. Throughout his recovery, Ronnie showed a gentle and cooperative nature, endearing himself to the staff and supporters who generously donated supplies and care.

Ronnie has now been adopted by Kera Hodson and Claire Preston, who already care for three other rescue ponies. The family was moved by his story and welcomed him into a loving home where he has quickly settled in and bonded with his new companions. They look forward to spoiling Ronnie over Christmas, ensuring he enjoys a special holiday with plenty of love and care, marking a hopeful new chapter after his traumatic abandonment.
