Larry Wilson Hudson of Central, SC passed away on February 9, 2025, due to complications from a chronic illness. He was born and raised in Wytheville, VA, and is survived by his wife, two daughters, siblings, nieces, and nephews. Larry graduated from Berea College in 1964 and pursued a PhD in Animal Science from the University of Kentucky before working at Clemson University for 28 years.
During his time at Clemson, Larry served as a professor and horse specialist, consulting on equine issues and fostering youth education initiatives. He was actively involved in regional and national horse shows, leadership roles with the State Horse Show, and making the Garrison arena‘s presence in Clemson a reality. Larry was also dedicated to volunteering for Pickens County Habitat for Humanity and served on the board of the Easley Central Water District.
Larry was a member of University Lutheran Church in Clemson, SC and was known for his love of the outdoors, birding, and organizing trips for the “Old Men’s Outing Club”. He will be remembered for his loyalty, simplicity, and love for family. Services will be held at University Lutheran Church on February 13th, with contributions to an Animal Science scholarship fund in his memory requested in lieu of flowers.
