Jeryl “George” Spencer, 85, of Cassopolis, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2025. He was born on February 26, 1939, in Cassopolis, Michigan, and was the only son among six daughters born to Hope and Murl Spencer. George was very active in the Future Farmers of America and 4-H, and owned and operated his family farm for over fifty years.
In 1972, George married Vicki Prothero and they had two children, Julie and George. He was known for his mischievous grin, good nature, and kind heart. George enjoyed farming, spending time with his family, watching sports, and binge-watching NCIS shows. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Family and friends will gather for visitation on February 24, 2025, and a funeral service will be held on February 25, 2025, at Wagner Family Funerals Connelly Chapel in Cassopolis. Contributions in memory of George can be made to Cassopolis FFA or Cassopolis Public Schools. The funeral service will be live-streamed for those unable to attend in person.
