Recalibrating a Career: Trude Hestengen’s Journey in Equestrian Sport

Trude Hestengen, a Norwegian team rider, is recalibrating her equestrian career after selling her Grand Prix horses and yard in Denmark due to financial pressures and responsibilities as a single business owner. Her international career began in 2001, and she achieved success with horses like Tobajo Pik Disney, Christianslund Furstino, and Kick Pleasure.

After investing in her own property in Denmark in 2013, Trude faced challenges such as the loss of her rising Grand Prix horse, Strandagergårds Deluxe, and a divorce in 2020. She continued to compete with Christianslund Furstino and Kick Pleasure, but in 2024, she decided to sell Kick Pleasure and her farm due to economic reasons and fatigue from running a horse business.

Trude plans to keep one horse, Svalegårds Hot Boy, to produce to Grand Prix level and compete for fun. She expressed a desire to explore new paths and potentially return to the Norwegian team in the future, but she no longer wants to ride professionally due to financial burdens and responsibilities.
