Pennsylvania State Police Unveils New State-of-the-Art Horse Stable at Hershey Academy

The Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) has unveiled a new, state-of-the-art 21,000-square-foot horse stable at its Hershey Academy, marking the first completed phase of a $387.8 million project to modernize the 65-year-old training facilities. The stable, designed to accommodate 30 horses with spacious stalls and access to over 50 acres of pasture, enhances the care and training environment for the Mounted Unit, which plays a key role in crowd control at major events and community engagement. This milestone reflects PSP’s commitment to preserving tradition while advancing law enforcement capabilities.

The broader academy upgrade includes the upcoming completion of a five-story Marquee Building housing classrooms, dormitories, and administrative offices, with plans to move in by fall 2026. Additional new facilities will support physical training, emergency operations, and tactical simulations. These improvements align with the Shapiro Administration’s efforts to build safer communities by expanding and better equipping law enforcement, including funding for multiple cadet classes and recruitment initiatives, resulting in over 550 new troopers trained under current leadership.
