During a joint hearing in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, members of the Agriculture & Rural Affairs Committee and the Gaming Oversight Committee discussed ways to revamp the horse racing industry across the state. The conversation centered on the significant economic impact of horse racing and the numerous jobs it supports.
State Rep. Pat Harkins highlighted the extensive employment generated by racing, breeding, and related services, while Patrick Morell, a simulcast host and breeder, emphasized Pennsylvania’s abundant land for racing and the direct flow of revenue from horsemen’s activities into local economies, underscoring the industry’s role in job creation and economic growth.
