New Zealand Wins Nations Cup at CHIO Aachen with Tim Price Leading Double Gold Triumph

The New Zealand equestrian team achieved a remarkable victory at the Nations Cup event at CHIO Aachen in Germany, winning the title for only the second time. Tim Price led the team with an outstanding performance on Vitali, securing both the individual and team gold medals. Price finished with 30.5 penalty points, marking his first individual win at Aachen, one of the sport’s most challenging competitions. Alongside Price, three other New Zealand riders—Monica Spencer, Clarke Johnstone, and Jonelle Price—placed in the top 10, contributing to the team’s narrow triumph over Great Britain by 8.7 penalty points.

This victory was especially significant as Aachen is a key event ahead of the 2026 world championships and is treated by the New Zealand team as their European championships. The team demonstrated exceptional skill and risk-taking, particularly in the demanding cross-country phase. Equestrian Sports NZ’s high-performance manager, Jock Paget, praised the riders for their competitive spirit and success, highlighting the achievement of having four New Zealanders in the top 10 and winning double gold as a major milestone for the year.
