Imperial Hint, a multiple Grade 1 winner known for setting a still-standing track record at Saratoga Race Course, was euthanized in Louisiana after a prolonged battle with laminitis. The 12-year-old son of Imperialism had a distinguished racing career from 2016 to 2020, winning 14 of 25 starts, including 11 black-type stakes and four Grade 1 events, and earning over $2.2 million. Bred in Florida and trained by Luis Carvajal Jr., Imperial Hint was owned by Raymond Mamone, who purchased him for $17,500 and celebrated his first graded stakes winner with the horse.
Since retiring to stud in 2021 at Clear Creek Stud, Imperial Hint sired 49 foals of racing age, with 31 two-year-olds currently active. His progeny have earned $286,633 to date, highlighted by the stakes-winning colt Tdz Hint of Power. Standing for a $2,500 fee during the 2025 breeding season, Imperial Hint, nicknamed “Little Rocket,” was bred to both Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse mares, continuing his legacy beyond the racetrack.
