Mr. A. P. Out Until March, Missing Kentucky Derby Trail Due to Injury

Mr. A. P., a promising 3-year-old son of American Pharoah, will be sidelined until March due to an undisclosed injury sustained during training after finishing second to Ted Noffey in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile at Del Mar. Trainer Vladimir Cerin described the injury as minor, assuring a full recovery, but the setback effectively removes Mr. A. P. from contention for the Kentucky Derby trail this season. Despite the injury, the colt remains in good spirits and is recovering well.

Claimed for $150,000 by Holly and David Wilson, Mr. A. P. showed strong early form with multiple runner-up finishes before breaking his maiden at Santa Anita Park. With a record of 1-3-0 from four starts and earnings of $403,000, he has demonstrated significant potential. His sire, American Pharoah, is set to stand at Shizunai Stallion Station in Japan starting in 2026.
