Millbrooke Realmquest is an innovative live-action Dungeons & Dragons experience set to take place from May 1 to 3 at Millbrook Trails near Chicago. This weekend-long event blends immersive tabletop gameplay with real-world activities such as horseback quests, camping, archery competitions, tarot readings, and escape room-style puzzles. Participants, encouraged to cosplay as their D&D characters, will explore a mystery unfolding during a royal wedding tournament in the fictional kingdom of Millbrooke. The adventure involves multiple campsites where players gather different story pieces through horseback rides and interactive challenges, creating a collaborative narrative around campfires.
The event was developed by Carol Cronin of Millbrook Trail Rides and creative director Michael Chun, who combined their expertise to expand the property’s programming into this ambitious fusion of tabletop RPG and live-action elements. With a $400-$500 ticket price that includes meals and optional horseback riding, the organizers aim to create a memorable and intentional experience that blurs the lines between traditional D&D and LARPing. If successful, Millbrooke Realmquest hopes to become an annual event, offering players a unique blend of storytelling, outdoor adventure, and community engagement.
