Midshipman Colt Tops Keeneland September Yearling Sale Session at $270,000

At the Keeneland September Yearling Sale on September 17, a colt by Midshipman topped the session, selling for $270,000 to Wesley Ward. The colt, bred in Kentucky by Nursery Place, Donaldson, and Broadbent, is out of stakes-placed Tiz Rae Anna and comes from a family of graded stakes winners. The session saw 316 yearlings sold for a total of $15.85 million, marking a 13% increase in gross and average prices compared to the previous year, with the median rising 14% to $40,000.

Cumulatively, the sale has reached $508.1 million for 2,224 yearlings, up 23% from last year, with average and median prices also significantly higher. Other notable sales included a $210,000 colt by Knicks Go purchased by Aspire Equine, and two colts sold for $195,000 each by Drain the Clock and Honor A. P. Leading consignors and buyers included Legacy Bloodstock and Faris Breeding. The sale continues through September 20 and is streamed live on Keeneland.com.
