Middle Park Fair & Rodeo Celebrates Western Heritage with Team Roping and 4-H Goat Show

The Middle Park Fair and rodeo, a longstanding celebration of Grand County’s western heritage, concluded its 109th year at the Middle Park fairgrounds. Highlights included the team roping event on August 5, where riders and their horses demonstrated traditional skills of working together to lasso steers, showcasing the deep bond between horse and rider rooted in the American West. Alongside this, 4-H and Future Farmers of America members from Grand and Summit Counties participated in the meat goat show, presenting animals they had raised and trained throughout the year, reflecting dedication and community spirit.

The fair, running through August 10, featured a diverse array of activities beyond livestock shows, including a Junior rodeo, CPRA rodeo, car show, cooking contests, horseshoe tournaments, and live music. These events provided opportunities for youth to display their skills in horsemanship, animal raising, and other projects, while fostering community engagement and celebrating local traditions. The Junior Livestock Sale also supported young farmers by helping them secure animals for future projects, rounding out a vibrant festival honoring western culture and youth development.
