Mary Ellen (Hunter) Summerson, born February 6, 1944, in Lock Haven, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025, at age 81. She dedicated much of her career to managing the Clinton County SPCA, demonstrating a deep passion for animals, and volunteered at Horses of Hope, teaching horseback riding and care. Mary also enjoyed gardening and family gatherings, and was an active member of the Avis Legion and its Women’s Auxiliary Club.

Preceded in death by her husband, children, great-grandchildren, and brother, Mary is survived by her daughters, stepdaughters, grandchildren, and extended family. A public viewing will be held on July 16, 2025, with a funeral service on July 17 at Walnut Street Baptist Church in Avis, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the church, honoring her lifelong faith and community dedication.
