The Mare and Foal Sanctuary’s Christmas Appeal film, featuring the stories of three rescued ponies, has gained national recognition and was included in a collection of ten charity Christmas films for 2024. The appeal focuses on Pinky, Seren, and Chesney, who have all faced challenges such as trauma, health issues, and neglect. The film was produced by former ITV journalist Claire Manning and equine filmmaker Phil Jones, with a voiceover by former BBC presenter Pippa Quelch.
Individual Giving Manager Charlotte Freeman emphasized the Sanctuary’s commitment to providing lifelong, loving care for its ponies, especially those with chronic health conditions or trauma. The film highlights the charity’s core aim of ensuring that no horse or pony feels frightened or unloved, especially during the holiday season. The Sanctuary’s team, including Pippa Quelch, is dedicated to sharing heartwarming stories and supporting the local community through various initiatives.
The Mare and Foal Sanctuary cares for horses and ponies across four sanctuary sites and operates six charity shops that provide valuable services in their local communities. The Sanctuary’s Education team offers Equine Assisted Learning sessions for vulnerable children and adults, while experts provide advice and support to equine owners. Through the Christmas appeal film, the Sanctuary aims to show that every equine, regardless of their needs, is valued, loved, and given the opportunity to lead a safe and peaceful life with the organization.
