The Retired Racehorse Project (RRP) has announced the return of Makeover Champions for the 2025 Thoroughbred Makeover and National Symposium. Launched in 2024, Makeover Champions encourages breeders, owners, trainers, and stallion farms—former connections of Thoroughbred racehorses—to publicly support horses competing in the retraining event, the largest and most lucrative of its kind in North America. Participants can share updates, volunteer, attend the event, or donate to support RRP’s mission of increasing demand for Thoroughbreds beyond racing.

The Thoroughbred Makeover, RRP’s flagship event, attracts over 300 horses annually and highlights the versatility of retired racehorses and broodmares. The RRP, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, also provides educational resources, online listings, and clinics to promote off-track Thoroughbreds. Former connections interested in participating in Makeover Champions can register through a provided form, with outreach continuing through August as final entries are confirmed.
