Lucknow Police Recover Stolen Religious Horse Duldul After Five-Day CCTV Hunt

In a meticulous five-day investigation, Lucknow Police utilized footage from 1,500 CCTV cameras to track down Zuljana, also known as Duldul, a revered Iranian-bred religious horse stolen from Talkatora Karbala. The horse was recovered from Maurawan village in Unnao, and Chhotu Verma, a former caretaker of the Karbala stables, was arrested for the theft, while his accomplice remains at large. Police pieced together the crime by analyzing CCTV footage and mobile data, leading them to the horse’s location and the confession of Chhotu, who admitted to selling Duldul for Rs 1.5 lakh.

The recovery of Duldul was met with relief and gratitude from the Shia community, with special prayers held at Karbala and a Rs 50,000 reward, initially offered by the horse’s owner Syed Faizi, now awarded to the police team. The horse’s caretaker expressed deep emotional attachment, likening the reunion to life returning. After legal procedures, the horse was officially returned to Syed Faizi, concluding a dramatic and successful recovery operation.
