Local Volunteers Raise €1,000 for Hugo’s Home Farm Animal Rescue Through Raffles and Sales

Local volunteers Roberta Gillen, Karen Mathews, Julie Brockbank, and Lisa Morris turned their routine cleaning duties at Hugo’s Home Farm into a successful fundraising effort by organizing raffles and table top sales. Their initial raffle at a music event raised €340, followed by a table top sale and a special raffle with a two-night farm stay prize, which brought in an additional €640. A generous donor then topped up the funds, allowing the group to present the rescue centre with a total of €1,000 to support its ongoing care for animals.

Hugo’s Home Farm, run by the Helping Coco Horse Rescue charity, is a licensed rescue centre in Spain dedicated to rehabilitating abused and neglected equines and other animals like alpacas, micro pigs, and goats. The centre relies on donations and re-homing programs in the UK to sustain its work. Open to the public on weekends with no entrance fee, the farm offers visitors the chance to interact with animals and supports its operations through community fundraising and donations like those raised by the volunteers.
