Lloyd D. Bloom (1937–1988) was a lifelong enthusiast and expert in draft horses, deeply rooted in rural traditions from his upbringing in Missouri to his later years in Iowa. He was actively involved in numerous draft horse organizations and events, including the Iowa Draft Horse and Mule Association and the World Percheron Congress. For over 15 years, he volunteered at Living History Farms, educating the public through demonstrations and hayrides, showcasing his passion and knowledge of draft horses.
Renowned for breaking, trading, and showing draft horses nationwide, Lloyd participated in horse pulls, sales, and wagon trains, leaving a lasting legacy through the teams he trained and the many people he inspired. His family honors his memory and contributions, celebrating his posthumous induction into the Draft Horse Hall of Fame as a fitting tribute to his lifelong dedication and love for draft horses.
