The Llandeilo Llangadog Llandovery Men’s Shed has joined the nationwide Mission: Shoulder to Shoulder campaign, which encourages men to connect, share skills, and support each other by building ‘buddy benches’ in their communities. The group crafted a bench, a bespoke picnic table, and additional seating for the Lluest Horse and Pony Trust, an animal rescue centre, aiming to create welcoming spaces that foster conversation and reduce isolation, especially among older men.

This campaign, led by DRINKiQ in partnership with the UK Men’s Sheds Association, promotes social connection, mental wellbeing, and alcohol moderation. The Men’s Sheds provide a supportive environment that helps reduce risky drinking and improve wellbeing by encouraging men to swap time at the bar for community engagement. Several Men’s Sheds in Wales have also participated in alcohol awareness workshops, reinforcing their commitment to healthier lifestyles and open dialogue.
