Lawsuit Alleges Negligence in Horse Stable Accident Involving Trainer Freedman and GSA Bloodstock

The lawsuit alleges that Anthony Freedman, GSA Bloodstock, and Begg were negligent in failing to prevent an accident involving McKenna, who was injured after Freedman parked a car in a location likely to frighten a horse. The defendants are accused of not adequately guarding a steel post or displaying proper warning signs, violating occupational health and safety regulations and WorkSafe guidelines. McKenna claims his injuries include a deformed leg, chronic pain, and psychological trauma, which have left him likely incapacitated indefinitely and unable to claim certain medical expenses.

Freedman, a successful trainer who has won major races including the 2019 Caulfield Guineas, now co-trains with his son, while Begg and GSA Bloodstock have also achieved notable racing successes. WorkSafe is involved as the insurer, but the defendants have yet to respond to the allegations. Both Begg and GSA Bloodstock declined to comment, and Freedman was contacted for a statement.
