Laura Kraut secured a remarkable victory at the RDS Dublin Horse Show’s Rolex Grand Prix on 10 August, delivering the only clear round on her 11-year-old mare, Bisquetta. Despite 11 riders finishing with four faults, Kraut’s precise and determined ride outshone the competition, including favorites who faltered on various challenging fences. Course designer Alan Wade noted the unusual outcome of just one clear round, attributing it to the technical difficulty and fairness of the course, which balanced height and spread without forcing mistakes.
Kraut praised Bisquetta’s bravery and carefulness, highlighting the mare’s quirks, such as a fear of other horses’ tails, which she manages well under saddle. The win was especially meaningful for Kraut, marking her first five-star grand prix victory in over two years. Rodrigo Pessoa and Shane Sweetnam completed the podium, with Pessoa posting the fastest four-fault round. The event showcased a well-contested class with faults spread across multiple fences, underscoring the challenge and prestige of the Dublin Grand Prix.
