Krystina, a dedicated animal rescuer in war-torn Ukraine, continues to care for over 250 dogs at her shelter, Under the Sun, while responding to calls for help for abandoned animals. Although she primarily rescues dogs and cats, she recently took in a malnourished goat and saved an elderly horse named Grad, who was abandoned and at risk of being sold for meat. Drawing on her experience caring for horses before the war, Krystina arranged for Grad to live at a nearby stable, personally covering his care and visiting him daily to provide love and affection.

Krystina’s compassionate efforts not only save animals but also offer her therapeutic comfort amid the crisis.
