At the March 23, 2026 meeting, the Council approved several key updates and initiatives. They updated the Heritage Designation By-law for 86 Division Street South to remove a deteriorated horse chestnut tree as a heritage feature and awarded a nearly $2 million contract to Sherway Contracting for watermain construction in the Southwest Service Area, seeking funding support from the Ontario Infrastructure Lands Corporation. Additionally, new by-laws were adopted to regulate fees for Ontario Provincial Police services related to false alarms and to govern Special Events in Kingsville, along with updates to the Fees and Charges By-law.
The Council also addressed issues related to the Ruthven Sanitary Sewer system by directing enforcement actions against non-compliant greenhouse operations, initiating a Water and Wastewater Master Plan including upgrades to the Ruthven sewer system, and maintaining emergency measures to prevent flooding. They mandated the development of a comprehensive Sewer By-law covering all sewer users and emphasized ongoing compliance efforts to reduce excessive wastewater discharges from greenhouses.
