Three young champions from the Kimball-Banner County Fair Horse Show—Giorgetta Varra, Taylor Whitney, and Karleigh Lukassen—shared insights on how ranching has taught them patience, hard work, and a deep connection to animals. Varra, 15, who has been around horses and cattle since infancy, highlighted the importance of patience learned from ranch life and plans to continue working in agriculture and horse training to uphold her family legacy. Whitney, 18, who has trained horses since age 11 and runs her own cattle, echoed the value of patience and expressed her lifelong commitment to ranching and horse training.
Fourteen-year-old Lukassen, newer to riding and training horses, also emphasized the dedication required in ranching and showing animals, balancing her passion for 4-H with plans to pursue paramedic school while staying involved in rodeo and family ranch activities. All three champions underscored that the hard work and hours invested in raising cattle and training horses ultimately lead to rewarding outcomes, both in competitions and in life.
