On July 23rd, 170 elementary students from Woodford County’s Summer School Program participated in immersive field trips across five prominent Thoroughbred farms in Kentucky’s Horse Country, organized by Visit Horse Country. Each grade, from kindergarten to fourth, visited a different farm—Godolphin, Airdrie Stud, Lane’s End Farm, Pin Oak Stud, and Resolute Racing—where they engaged in hands-on activities designed to educate and inspire a deeper connection to the horse industry, including learning about horse measurement, observing training routines, and meeting famous horses.
This initiative, supported by local schools and industry partners, aimed to foster community ties and instill pride in the region’s signature industry while sparking lifelong appreciation and potential future involvement in horse racing. Farm representatives and educators praised the program’s impact, highlighting the joy and excitement of the students and the unique educational opportunities provided, demonstrating the power of collaboration between Horse Country, its member farms, and Woodford County Public Schools.
