Kazakhstan’s Vice Minister of Agriculture, Amangali Berdalin, met with Chinese investment representatives to discuss enhancing cooperation in the agro-industrial sector, focusing notably on exporting Kazakhstan’s domestic horse breeds, which are highly sought after in China. The meeting highlighted opportunities for Kazakh farmers and emphasized the establishment of veterinary infrastructure, including a proposed Chinese-funded veterinary laboratory to ensure biosafety and facilitate animal trade between the two countries. Additionally, discussions covered modern intensive fodder production methods to address climate change challenges and improve livestock nutrition.
Chinese delegate Wang Zhifeng underscored China’s view of Kazakhstan as a strategic partner in sustainable agriculture, with investments in veterinary labs and fodder production reflecting a commitment to shared agricultural development. The Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture expressed readiness to support ongoing dialogue and initiatives to boost the agro-industrial complex and export potential. In 2024, Chinese direct foreign investment in Kazakhstan reached approximately $1.19 billion, making China one of the top five investors in the country.
