Starting in 2026, January 25th will be recognized as National Veterinary Prevention Day, established by Law No. 49 of April 1, 2025. The day aims to promote veterinary prevention and strengthen the One Health approach, which emphasizes the interconnectedness of human health, animal health, and environmental protection. This initiative highlights the scientific understanding that human well-being is closely linked to the health of animals and the environment we share.

To support this new observance, the Ministry of Health, through its Directorate General of Animal Health and in collaboration with other departments, has launched a nationwide call for information and outreach projects related to veterinary prevention, with submissions due by December 17. These initiatives will be published on the Ministry’s website to encourage widespread participation and raise awareness about the importance of veterinary healthcare across Italy.
